At Hazelwood College, we value the importance of sport, both for the physical benefits and interpersonal skills that come with participation.
A range of sporting teams at the College compete all year round in a variety of activities, where students have the opportunities to visit other schools and experience competition at various levels.
Our indoor facilities include a three court sports hall and a gymnasium, utilised for gymnastics, dance and fitness. Outdoor facilities include an all-weather pitch.
Sports offered include football, rugby, Gaelic, basketball, netball, trampolining, dance, cross-country, athletics and table tennis.
Throughout the College, we seek to safeguard every member of our school community. Our College policy sets out clear expectations and processes to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. This is regularly reinforced through specific elements of our curriculum.
Our dedicated safeguarding team includes a health and wellbeing coordinator, a school nurse, a designated teacher for child protection, outreach workers and occupational therapists. We also work closely with outside agencies and counsellors to support the wellbeing of our students.
Hazelwood also works in partnership with the Diana Awards Anti-Bullying Campaign. Each year, a group of students are trained to become ambassadors for the initiative, empowering our young people to make a difference.
